FAAC Access Control Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

If you’re searching for FAAC access control installation in Fort Worth, you need a company that actually stocks FAAC-compatible parts, matches the board or keypad to your specific model, and wires it without creating a phantom drain that kills your battery in a week. Installed access control work on FAAC gates around Fort Worth typically runs $450 to $1,450 depending on whether it’s a keypad, a telephone entry unit, a loop detector, or a full retrofit to a smartphone-based system. We keep the most common FAAC control boards and accessory parts on our trucks, so a lot of this work happens same-day when you’re inside Tarrant County.

The way most Fort Worth homeowners discover their FAAC access control has failed is aggravating: a keypad that works for spouses but not delivery drivers, a remote that programs fine and dies two days later, or a call box that rings through but won’t open the gate. Occasionally it’s worse: the gate cycles but the safety edge doesn’t reverse it, or the whole system lets out a single sad beep and goes dark. That’s almost never the motor. It’s usually the brain.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

We install and program access control on the FAAC lines you see most around Fort Worth driveways and small communities: the 400 series operators, the 391 and 402 slabs, the E124 and S450 control boards, and a good number of the older 750/760 systems that are still running on original hardware. The gotcha with FAAC is that the control board you need is dictated by the operator’s revision, not just the model name. A 391 made in 2012 takes a different board than a 391 made in 2019, even though the motor looks identical. The best way to know what you have is to open the cover and read the sticker on the control board itself. Write down the part number you see, and the operator’s model and serial number from the side of the unit.

There’s also the OEM-versus-aftermarket question. FAAC original boards and keypads are well made and tend to last, but they’re priced like Italian imports because they are. There are legitimate aftermarket boards that match spec, and some that absolutely don’t. Hal has learned which ones hold up in Texas heat, and which ones will cook by August. We’ll tell you straight which route makes sense for your gate and your budget, and we back either one with the same 90-Day Done Right Promise. Gatewood Fence & Gate is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with FAAC; we just know their equipment and what to do when it quits.

Signs Your FAAC Access Control Installation Is Failing

  • Keypad works for some codes, then randomly locks out. Weather sealing on the face starts to crack, moisture gets behind the membrane, and the board interprets it as a button press. It’s a slow failure that gets worse every time it rains or the sprinklers hit it.
  • Remote range drops to almost nothing. The receiver antenna on FAAC boards is sensitive to corrosion at the connection point. You’ll find yourself pulling into the driveway and pressing the button six times before the gate agrees to move.
  • Telephone entry rings, but the gate never opens. The relay on the phone board is dying, or the wiring between the entry unit and the control board has a bad splice from the original install. We see this constantly on Fort Worth rental properties and small apartment gates.
  • Battery dies every few days with no other symptoms. The control board is drawing current when it shouldn’t, usually because a failing accessory is keeping the board awake. A bad keypad or a shorted loop detector will drain a good battery before you notice anything else.
  • Gate closes on a car or interrupts open cycles. Safety edges and photo eyes tie directly into the control board logic. When the board starts misreading those inputs, you have a genuine safety problem, not just a convenience problem.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge for common FAAC access control installation in Fort Worth:

  • Keypad replacement / addition: $450 to $750 installed, depending on whether you want standalone digital entry or a unit with a display.
  • Control board replacement (FAAC 400 series, 391, 402): $550 to $950 installed and programmed.
  • Telephone entry / call box installation: $800 to $1,300 depending on whether it’s cellular or landline and whether you need a dedicated phone line pulled.
  • Receiver and remote programming: $180 to $320 for replacement receiver boards or antenna repair.
  • Loop detector installation: $500 to $800, including saw-cutting and sealant for the loop wire in the driveway.

Every price we quote is agreed with you before we touch a screwdriver. You will not get a “discovered additional work” phone call halfway through. The parts, the labor, and the programming are all in the number. If we open your box and find the board we brought is the wrong revision, we eat the cost of running back to the shop, not you. That’s also covered in writing by the 90-Day Done Right Promise, which says plainly: if it’s not done right, we make it right. No fine print.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things yourself without opening anything dangerous. Confirm the breaker on the gate circuit hasn’t tripped. Look for a pinched or chewed wire on the outside of the operator box. Note whether the keypad lights up at all. Those observations save us time and save you money when we arrive. What you should not do is open the control box and start swapping boards or testing relays. FAAC boards carry live 120V at the transformer and low-voltage control circuits right next to each other. One wrong probe with a multimeter, and you’ve fried a board we could have saved, or worse. If it involves a wiring diagram, let Hal handle it.

If you’re in Fort Worth and your FAAC gate isn’t responding the way it should, call us at (817) 241-4067. We’ll walk through the symptom with you on the phone and give you an honest idea of what you’re looking at before we ever set foot in your driveway.
